Is Google Scholar reliable/valuable?

counts, selection of resources, and its commercial partnerships... ...led to the conclusion that Google Scholar may be useful for initial and
supplemental information gathering, but lacks a deeper reliability than
other existing services currently provide scholars."

This is a really interesting article. Will definitely read more on this. It has always been one of the concerns that Google doesn't publish exact guidelines as to the inclusion of materials. Maybe they should get a group of librarians to work for them.
